Point Pleasant began life as a part of Bricktown and was known then as West Point Pleasant. The separation occurred in May of 1920. Point Pleasant has changed dramatically since then, Route 88 was paved, the Intercoastal Waterway was completed and four schools have been erected.
Point Pleasant Boro has an active Recreation Department that caters to all ages in the community. There is an annual Halloween Parade, Night Out against Crime, Movie Nights and so much more. There are two river beaches as well as multiple parks, including a skateboard park.
Some highlights of the Point Boro School System would be their award winning band, the Performing Arts Department puts on outstanding musicals and plays. The athletic programs for all levels of student involvement enjoy a large number of participants. Compared to the State's most recent average cost per student of $18,891, the District spends $4,186 less per student than average while still ranking in the top 100 of NJ school systems.
Point Pleasant is easy to get to by boat or car. It is close to the Parkway, Route 70 as well as train and bus routes.
