Point Pleasant was founded by early fishermen and has been the home of one of New Jersey’s 3 commercial fishing fleets for generations. The waters around Point Pleasant are populated with sail boats, sport fishing boats and various recreational water craft. It’s boardwalk is clean and family oriented, with wonderful seafood stands and rides for the kids. Even though Point Pleasant is a summer resort, it is also a thriving year round community with a mix of both old and new single family homes. A thriving downtown features family style restaurants, nouvelle seafood bistros and a noted Spanish restaurant along with a mix of antique stores, boutiques and quaint home furnishing shops. Schools in Point Pleasant are well known for their excellent education opportunities and good student to teacher ratios.
One of the last stops along the metro rail line make Point Pleasant a very attractive town for those looking to raise a family at the shore while continuing to work in urban centers.
